Back in 1959, the Burlington Nelson Lions Club first opened the Farmers’ Market in the Central Arena parking lot.  Then they moved to the new Burlington Mall parking lot in 1968.  In 2007, the Burlington Nelson Lions and the Burlington Central Lions merged together as the Burlington Lions Club.

The Burlington Mall Farmers’ Market has played an important part in Burlington’s history for almost 60 years and has since become one of the most successful Farmers’ Markets in Southern Ontario.  The Market has been associated with the Burlington Mall for 49 years and in 2018, the Mall is celebrating their 50th year of operation.

A recent study conducted showed that the Farmers’ Market brings in about $5,000,000 in sales to the Halton community.  This is over and above the monies spent at the market itself.  We thank the Burlington Mall Management Team for their co-operation and generosity in providing this prestigious location for the Market.

The Farmers’ Market has over 48 vendors selling goods each week and there are almost 200 people employed by the market, either through working in the stalls or out in the fields getting the produce ready for sale.

The Market runs from the beginning of May until the end of October on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.  You’ll find a huge array of locally grown and produced fruits and vegetables, herbs, prepared foods (like our handcrafted perogies and cabbage rolls), cheese, eggs, meats, fish, baked goods, preserves, honey, wine, flowers, spices, lavender and much more.

When visiting Burlington’s Farmers’ Market, be sure to bring your reusable bags and plenty of cash.  Say hello and get to know the farmers who work hard to bring fresh food to your table.  When you provide your family with wholesome, fresh, locally grown food, you’re supporting the farmer and your community and strengthening the connection between rural and urban communities. And it doesn’t get much better than that.

Join us on Friday, August 31st, for the 60th Anniversary Season Celebration.  The Farmers’ Market opens at 8:00 am with Special Events starting at 10:00 am, including Cake, Ice Cream, Berries, Entertainment, Draws and Presentations.  A Classic Car with be on display.

The Burlington Mall Lions Farmers’ Market operates right up until the end of October.  Stuffed. attends the market every Friday and Saturday from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm.  We look forward to seeing you here every week!
